Some users may now see an extra security warning when opening our Remote Desktop connection file.
This is due to a recent Windows security update from Microsoft, which added stronger warnings for Remote Desktop (.rdp) files to help protect against phishing and unsafe remote connections. If the file is not digitally signed, Windows may display messages such as “Unknown remote connection” or “Unknown publisher.” This does not by itself mean the connection is unsafe.
Pacific Solutions does not digitally sign it's .rdp shortcut file. If you receive the warning and the remote computer name show matches the system Pacific Solutions has provisioned for you (yourcompanyname@apps.pacsol.cloud), you may proceed. To reduce future prompts for that same file on that same Windows profile, check the box that says “I understand and allow RDP files to open on this device for my account” and then click Connect or OK.
If prompted, also select 'clipboard,' 'printers,' and 'drives', and click 'connect' if you would like to access your workstation's clipboard, printers, and U drive from your Pacific Solutions hosted server.
The guidance above is for the .rdp file issued by Pacific Solutions for your company to access it's hosted JobRunner or FloorManager ERP solution.
If you receive the warning for other .rdp files not issued by Pacific Solutions, exercise caution based on the provider, Microsoft notes that unsigned .rdp files are allowed by default, but Windows will warn before opening them.
