Editing Product Structure

Overview

Product Structure is editable in your database.

Any changes to the product structure should happen before importing the product catalog.  If the changes have not been made before import, the product type won’t appear in the drop-down selection on a proposal, and it will not be searchable by its product type.

For B2B users, is not recommended to modify product structure, as the Product Type comes in the files Vendors send to your database directly.  Changing the Product Type for the items you add/import yourself while the B2B products are listed under a different type can confuse team members.

Set-up

To Edit the Product Structure requires the Product Structure button on the admin panel (if unable to locate it, additional permissions may need to be granted in Report/Admin settings).

Process

To begin editing the Product Structure, you will use the "+New" button (12) and add the information as necessary.

(1) Category: this is the equivalent of the Product Type (Base, Carpet, Ceramic Tile, etc.…)
(2) Type: notes the type of item is it a rug, a roll (i.e. carpet, sheet vinyl), a tile (i.e. Ceramic tile, VCT plank, wood,) or a unit (items sold by the “Eaches” i.e. adhesive, sundries, grout)
(3) Procurement: If you going to be creating a PO for this item, it should be set to yes
(4) Inventory Prefix: this can be left blank
(5) Ordered By: i.e. Each, Roll, LF, etc...
(6) Default GPM: What you want your BASE GMP to be.  If you do not see the value you need, click “other” and enter the decimal value.
(7) Default Freight: (optional) only needed if you want to have freight added
(8) Require PO Item Info: set to Yes
(9) Allow Manual Entry Items: Selecting yes will allow you to select a type from the dropdown menu for Product Type and free type in the following fields.  This may need to be set in stone, but we recommend setting this to yes as you are building the catalog and then re-evaluating when the catalog is somewhat solidified.
(10) Allow Manual Picking (iPad):  you can leave this blank and come back to edit as needed
(11) Sold By: leave this blank unless you order by one measure and sell by another (i.e. if you order by the SY and sell by the SF).  This will set up an auto calculation to take the place of the difference in how they buy and sell the product.
(12) New Button: to create a new category
