Managing Attachments

Attachments Management for Pacific Solutions Systems

Whether your JobRunner or FloorManager database is installed in a hosted server environment or an on-premise server environment, your database security and performance are a top priority for us.

Our systems do offer methods for uploading non-system-generated files to job records and to emails sent from the system. Attaching documents, photos, email messages, excel files and many other types of files can have inherent risks embedded in them. For example, Excel files can have macros embedded, potentially holding virus executions. Keeping a limited number of applications on your dedicated server helps to keep your server safe.

Although it would be nice to be able to open every type of file, for your workstation and server security, please follow these best practices for attaching files in your hosted or non-hosted server environment.

Three applications are installed on the server for file viewing; Chrome, Infraviewer and Foxit PDF viewer.

Best Practices for file attachments

Attach only PDFs, Image type files and .csv files that can be opened by Chrome. Do not attach email message files, .xls, .docx, or raw files.

Here are some useful tips:

  1. Print emails to PDF and then attach them to the documents/forms or JobMail area.
  2. Save spreadsheets as .csv files so they can be opened in a web browser like Chrome.
  3. Save image files in JPEG format so that they are compressed to small file sizes.
