How to Create a Versailles Pattern Steps
Verify the area units before beginning
From the Pallet Menu on the right hand side of the screen, select Add Shape
- If the Pallet Menu is not displayed on the right hand side, select View in the header bar – Pallete
The Tile Shape Library opens
THE SHAPE LIBARY includes square and rectangle pieces, the DECORATIVE folder includes scallop and arabesque shapes, and the SPECIAL folder includes the geometric shapes such as trapezoids and hexagons.
To start the pattern select the Tile Shape Library folder and click on “SQUARE”
Enter the size of the first tile in the width field.
Click OK when finished.
The tile will now display on the right hand side of the screen under the “Pallete” menu
For the next tile Click Add Shape at the top of the Pallete Menu
Select the Shape Library and double Click on "RECTANGLE"
Enter the size of the next tile in the width and length fields.
Click OK when finished
Repeat this process for the remaining tile sizes.
All tiles needed for the pattern should be included in the Pallete menu on the right side.
Using the tile pattern guide, assemble the tile pattern by clicking on the tile needed from the pallete menu, clicking into the design space on the right to place it into place.
If a tile requires rotation, utilize the Rotate stamp right or left tools in the toolbar across the top of the screen. The other way to rotate a tile stamp is to click and hold then move the mouse across the screen until the tile is in the position required to continue to the pattern.
Once the first of the pattern repeats is established, click the linear offset button in the upper tool bar (two arrows moving away from each other). This will add a copy of the entire pattern created to your stamp tool. Set the pattern down along the bottom line of the existing pattern. This will fill the repeat from top to bottom.
From the header bar select the planar offset tool from the toolbar across the top. (two arrows moving away from each other in North and South orientation). This will again add a stamp of the entire pattern. Click to align on the right of the original tile pattern. The original tile pattern is identified as the darker displayed tile pattern.
The entire design space should show the repeating tile pattern.
Click inside the Name field on the left-hand side of the screen and enter a name for the pattern created.
Once finished click the OK button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
A dialog box will open asking if the pattern needs to be added to the current job, select yes if necessary. Select OK on the next message verifying the material type.
Click okay on the dialog box that opens indicating the defaults have been assigned by the program.
Another dialog box will appear which will allow the adjustment of the tile specifics
Click on a tile in the list and select edit tile list
Double click on the tile to be edited to open the details related to that specific tile.
Adjust name, color and box quantities as needed and select OK.
Select okay on all open dialog boxes to begin utilizing the pattern in the take off.
